Chicago event and trade show firm seeks Director of Public Relations to generate media awareness for trade shows, events and conferences. Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

Candidate will supervise 3 PR managers and one PR coordinator: 30%.

Manage national media relations efforts, including press pitching, media events and pressrooms: 30%. Other PR programs, events and functions and special projects: 30-40%. Competitively position company and products, and develop key messages designed to reach target audiences. Leverage media relationships and pitch stories for all related industries. Coordinate press inquiries generated from pitching.

Develop yearly and seasonal media plans. Develop open relationships with internal departments. Work with marcom dept. to develop and build online press rooms. Manage projects autonomously while working within team structure, show leadership and be proactive. Travel: 3-4 trips/year and extra trips as needed.

Quarterly catalog (40% of duties)
1. Manage and contribute to process of incorporating content changes and improvements for 1/3 of the catalog (approximately 100 pages). Provide detailed information and direction to internal and/or external creative resources to execute changes.

2. Proofreading group member. Proofread all catalog pages.

3. Catalog committee member, a standing task force that makes ongoing improvements to catalog. Review competitors’ catalogs, product packaging and manufacturers’ collateral materials.

4. Final reviewer, along with catalog designer, of catalog page film proofs.

Sale flyers (30% of duties—9 per year)
1. Work with marketing team to review and seek out promotions for each flyer.

2. Produce flyer. Determine page and space allocation. Develop and organize ancillary copy and content, direct creative staff through design and artwork development process.

3. Develop and maintain program timeline. Work with Marketing Coordinator to manage production process.

Direct mail letters and package stuffer programs (30% of duties)
1. Research and gather product information to help determine and/or support message direction and content; contribute to copywriting and proofreading.

2. Assist with determining targeting criteria and database selections.

3. Develop and maintain program timeline. Work with Marketing Coordinator to manage production process.

4. Monitor stuffer usage and results to optimize planned quantity allocations.

5. Use results, analysis and direct marketing knowledge to refine past programs for subsequent efforts.
