Chicago-based insurance company seeks Risk Management Specialist Trainee to
provide risk management consultative services to insured customers and
office staff, coordinate and teach seminars, and develop risk management
educational materials/ programs. Work in thirteen-member staff team in risk
management division of insurance company. Extensive travel within IL. Must
have valid driver¹s license. Most seminars scheduled within 2 hours¹ drive
from Chicago. Few overnight stays. In office one day/week. Will be provided
company laptop and have access to secured network. Reports to Director, Risk
Management Operations.

Background:

Bachelor¹s degree with one to two years of healthcare risk management or
comparable experience. Working in a clinical setting a plus. Will consider
candidates with front office, administrative and customer facing experience
working for medical, dental or veterinarian offices or medical record
organizations. Titles can include: Medical Assistant, Billing Assistant,
Medical Records Specialist, Office Assistant or equivalent.
Excellent writing, presentation and stand up skills required. Experience in
planning and conducting adult education programs desired. Good
organizational skills and ability to work independently. Must be a
service-oriented individual with a high degree of professionalism and
enthusiasm. Must have a valid driver¹s license. Extensive travel
throughout Illinois (up to 60% of the time).

Responsibilities:

-Participate in initial training to be fully prepared to teach and present.
Training will take 6-12 months. Candidate will learn the modules for live
seminars and on-line courses. Will shadow other staff to integrate ³best
practices². Will take risk management calls and provide superb customer
service. First three months will be in Chicago office. Once prepped,
candidate will create own work and training schedule. Learning curve will
take approximately 1-2 years. Candidate can then be promoted to Risk
Management Specialist.
-Perform practice assessments throughout Illinois.
-Coordinate and conduct risk management educational seminars (live,
audio-conferences, and web-based seminars) to audiences of 25 ­to 200 medical
industry professionals. Seminars are held twice daily for three hours each.
-Provide telephone and written risk management consultation in response to
clients and their staff inquiries.
-Educate ancillary staff on systematic risk management prevention
techniques.
-Implement risk rewards programs for clients and their staff in addition to
providing some technical support regarding company¹s web site.
-Offer support and assistance to Claims and Underwriting Divisions and their
respective committees.
-Provide assistance with risk management issues dealing with Illinois law.
-Work closely with physicians, office managers, physician¹s staff,
attorneys, seminar faculty and consultants.
