Sr. Associate, External Relations, Grant Writer - Philadelphia, PA

Job Description:

Position Summary and Essential Functions:

The Senior Associate organizes and performs writing assignments, including funding proposals and applications to government agencies and foundations, reports and other communications to funders, investors and other stakeholders, as well as provide written material for the Organization’s website and published materials. The Senior Associate is also responsible for performing prospect research for new funding opportunities, and coordinating cultivation and stewardship mailings. The Senior Associate monitors reporting schedules, requirements and deliverables and ensures that these are met appropriately and in a timely manner. To support these essential functions, the Senior Associate must proactively keep up to date on his/her knowledge regarding all lines-of-business within Opportunity Finance Network.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

· Write reports due quarterly, semi-annually and annually to funders and investors.
· Prepare grant financial reports using the MIP data.
· Track and communicate with staff about grant deliverables.
· Write and edit text for funding proposals and applications.
· Coordinate the preparation and organization of supplemental supporting materials for proposals and applications.
· Oversee proposal packaging and submission as needed.
· Prepare all thank you letters, receipts, and responses to funder surveys.
· Assist with ensuring sponsorship fulfillment including acknowledgment on the Web site and in the e-newsletter.
· Coordinate the closing process for federal grants.
· Assist with donor and investor stewardship and prospect cultivation by preparing and overseeing the mailings of key organizational communication pieces (i.e., Annual Report, industry publications, etc.)
· Update the funder and investor contact spreadsheet as necessary.
· Maintain computer and hard copy files of External Relations communications with funders and investors.
· Prepare a summary of fundraising and capitalization results for Board Meeting materials.
· Assist periodically with preparing capitalization proposals and with coordinating loan closings.
· Write information for company website and other organizational materials.
Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree or 9 years work experience; graduate degree a plus
· 3-5 years professional experience in writing required.
· Experience in analytical capacity required.
· Experience in qualitative or quantitative research is highly beneficial.
· Experience or volunteer work in nonprofit or small office environment a plus.

· Ability to understand, create, and modify external communications and publications as needed.
· Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse constituents is required.
· Limited travel required.
· Knowledge of and commitment to community development preferred.
· No extraordinary physical requirements beyond ability to travel.
