Program Manager - Chicago, IL

Job Description:


The purpose of the role of Program Manager is to assist the Area Director with program implementation and manage all day-to-day operations at assigned school(s). The Program Manager reports directly to the Area Director.

This is a part-time, seasonal position averaging 20 weeks in length and 25-30 hours per week. Position is not benefit eligible.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting Area Director with program operational logistics and implementation at all stages of program; student retention and attendance; staff recruitment and development; student registration; daily submission of instructor, Lead Instructor and Program Aide payroll and student attendance to corporate office; participation in local community events; maintain and build positive relationships with school administration; present to parents, staff and school administration on Orion’s Mind program and curriculum; pick-up and deliver materials from corporate office to designated school(s). The Program Manager must have a personal computer with high speed internet connection, valid driver’s license and reliable car with willingness for up to 60% local travel.

The Program Manager may also be required to cover classes on an as needed basis, meet with parents and school administrators and plan and conduct weekly instructor meetings.

The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing Lead Instructors, Program Aides and Instructors.

Skills required for the position of Program Manager are: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and internet; BA or BS or relevant experience; excellent interpersonal communication skills; proven track-record of successful program and employee management; strong leadership ability; demonstrate consistent logic, rationality and objectivity in decision making; plans, organizes and schedules in an efficient and productive manner; maintains stable performance and poise in high-pressure situations; Ability to generate new innovative approaches to problems or creative modifications to established approaches; adjusts quickly to changing priorities; team-player – cooperates with supervisors and establishes collaborative relationships with peers to overcome “we-they” relationships.

Preferred Skills/Knowledge: Fluency in Spanish; At least 3 years program management experience; Experience with Classroom/Behavior management; Knowledge of SES and/or familiarity of school organization structures; Demonstrates integrity; Actions-oriented, able to produce results despite lack of resources; Able to build and maintain trusting relationships; Exhibits energy, strong desire to achieve; exhibits high sense of responsibility and sets high standards of performance for self and all coworkers.


Must submit to and pass federal and state background check.
