Job Description:
Teachers must be certified to teach at either of the following levels:
• Elementary (Pre-K-5)
• Middle School (5-8 any subject area)
• High School (9-12- any subject area)
Additionally, successful candidates will have prior experience working with advanced learners and/or a NYS Gifted and Talented Extension certificate or posses a Statement of Continued Eligibility (SOCE).
The Young Scholars program seeks to focus on providing advanced learners in grades 4-8 with the following experiences in a pull-out, accelerated instructional model at a variety of school district locations:
• Challenging literature, particularly in the area of classical literature
• Immersion in the humanities with emphasis on developing concept-based curriculum across the disciplines
• Writing, including in-depth instruction on persuasive writing
• Science and math integration within the curriculum
