Lending Manager - Philadelphia, PA

Job Description:

Position Summary and Essential Functions:

Manages Opportunity Finance Network’s financing activities, including: underwriting and intake of loans and investments in community development financial institutions (CDFIs) and real-estate secured loans; implementation of new financing products; and underwriting and monitoring services for other CDFI investors. Works hands-on with CDFIs to deliver program services and monitor performance. Supervises underwriters on Financial Services Team.

Responsibilities:
1. Manages Opportunity Finance Network’s financing activities, including intake and underwriting of loans and investments associated with new and existing financial products.
2. Manages financing product and product line implementation.
3. Manages all CDFI financing activities by overseeing and directly participating in the underwriting and monitoring of loans and investments to CDFIs.
4. Manages all financing activities associated with Opportunity Finance Network’s new manufactured housing land acquisition loans by overseeing and directly participating in the underwriting and presentation to the Loan & Investment Committee of income-producing real estate loans.
5. Manages Opportunity Finance Network’s purchases of residential second mortgages as part of the organization’s broader single family mortgage financing strategy.
6. Manages and makes presentations to Loan & Investment Committee.
7. Manages contracts with investors seeking underwriting and monitoring of CDFI loans.
8. Oversees CDFI data collection, analysis, and publication.
9. Participates in strategic and organizational planning for Opportunity Finance Network as part of the Management Team.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years work experience; MBA or other Graduate Degree preferred
2. 8+ years professional experience in community development lending, commercial or residential real estate lending, or related field required
3. 5+ years in a supervisory or managerial capacity required
4. Strong writing, financial and analytical experience required
5. Experience in qualitative and quantitative research and analysis is highly beneficial
6. Experience in commercial, residential, and unsecured underwriting required; experience in training and technical assistance highly beneficial

1. Proficient with MS Office Products/Internet
2. Demonstrated management ability required
3. Demonstrated leadership and motivational ability required
4. Entrepreneurial approach to lending, developing a line of business, and understanding the complexities and challenges of community development finance required
5. Real estate pro forma experience required
6. Strong financial, market, quantitative, and qualitative analysis skills required
7. Ability to manage a division independently, with strategic supervision required
8. Ability to set priorities and delegate tasks effectively required
9. Superior analytical and organizational skills required
10. Superior written and verbal communication skills required
11. Superior interpersonal skills, ability to manage and work in teams, and constructively interact with diverse constituents is required
12. Moderate travel required (25% of time)
13. Understanding of and commitment to community development required
14. No extraordinary physical requirements beyond ability to travel
