Title: Editor in Chief – Medical Communications

Position Summary: Reporting to the CEO, The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for our medical content production, planning and coordination. You will be responsible for ensuring that the all medical content comes out, on time, daily as scheduled. You will oversee all content thoroughly to ensure it is properly tailored to the Primary Care community, fairly and thoroughly reported, well-written and presented, and free of error. • Manage the editorial department to include reviewing editorial contracts and editorial content as submitted to the Editorial Advisory Board (EAB)
• Coordinate daily editing and production for all electronic publication
• Read and edit all content before publication
• Set and enforce deadlines
• Maintain contact with authors about the status of their submission
• Ensure accuracy, fairness and completeness of all content
• Establish goals for the editorial team; participate in the company’s planning efforts and efforts to analyze performance of the editorial list
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for the acquisition and publication of content
• Solicit, acquire and review prospective content for publication on our proprietary channel based on the needs of the audience
• Make frequent evaluations to ensure the publication is meeting the needs and interests of the audience
• Maintain contact with other new media medical publications, authors and reviewers to identify trends in various fields; generate ideas for projects and solicit authors to develop projects
• Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules
• Write and distributing weekly status and budget reports to the EAB
• Select, appoint and dismiss EAB members and other volunteers who participate regularly
• Providing professional guidance to members of the departmentSkills and Experience:
• Minimum of seven years editorial or marketing experience in a publishing or related setting
• Demonstrated ability to solicit and acquire content
• Experience working with an editorial review board
• General publishing administrative practices
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Self-managing and self-starting
• Deadline driven when needed, but open to learning new tools when notEducation: Work requires organizational, analytical and communications skills normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. Advanced degree(s) strongly preferred.
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience plus equity plus full benefit package
