Do you like having three day weekend’s every now and again? We have a Custodian position we are filling for the City of Yuma with a schedule allowing for a Friday off every other week. If this schedule sounds attractive, this position may be for you.
If selected for this position, you will enjoy a schedule working 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and working 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. every other Friday. This is a Temporary Full-Time opportunity with no set end date established.
The Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining City buildings, facilities and related infrastructure..
In this role, the Custodian will:
- Clean, sanitize and deodorize rest rooms;
- Sweep and vacuum carpeting and floors using manual and power equipment;
- Mop, scrub, wax, shampoo and spot clean carpeting and floors;
- Empty waste cans and other trash receptacles and replace light bulbs;
- Clean woodwork, walls and windows using common household equipment and cleaning products;
- Sweep sidewalks and entrance ways;
- Clean and dust offices;
- Move office and building furniture and equipment;
- Keep equipment and supplies in order and request re-supply when needed;
- Apply improved work procedures to ensure safety and efficiency of operations;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
To compete for this opportunity, the job candidate must be skilled in:
- detecting needed building or facility repairs and making necessary adjustments;
- using common hand tools such as hammers, screw drivers or similar tools;
- working cooperatively with other City employees, various levels of City and Departmental staff, and the public, often in stressful situations;
- working safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D.; one (1) year custodial or building maintenance experience.
May be required to possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License.
Must currently live and continue to live within fifteen (15) miles of the City limits, and within the United States.
If assigned to a Police Department, the candidate must pass a polygraph and background check.
Hourly Rate
$10.14 per hour
